His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Chairman of the Federal Transport Authority – Land & Maritime (FTA), held a meeting with Mr. Moin Ahmed, Director General of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) on the sidelines of H.E. Dr. Al Nuaimi's visit to the International Maritime Organization in London, congratulating Mr. Moin on his reappointment as Director General for a new period.
During the meeting, several topics were discussed, such as: the active role of the International Mobile Satellite Organization (IMSO) by supervising Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) services providers to enhance competitiveness among service providers such as (INMARSAT) and (IRIDIUM), as well as encouraging new providers to enter the competition such as mobile satellite services Co. "Thuraya" which in turn enhances the efficiency of products and the quality of services at the best prices. He also discussed cooperation in training and capacity building related to search and rescue operations within the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).
For his part, Mr. Moin thanked the Minister for his visit and looked forward to further cooperate and coordinate with H.E. Mohammed Al Kaabi, permanent representative of the United Arab Emirates to the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Mr. Moin also praised the active and positive role of the UAE through the membership of the 42-member IMSO Advisory Committee, which was elected during the IMSO General Assembly meeting held during the period from 9 to 12 October 2018.
